The year 2021 was marked by many important events for our country. Of course, it is difficult to say in general whether it was a good year or not.

This is because we have had irreparable losses, but also some great achievements.

I've heard a lot of people say that 2021 was one of the best years of their lives, but there were people who said it was one of the worst years.

However, everyone agrees on one point: 2021 was a year of great struggle, especially for us Brazilians.

But the good news is that we have a whole new year for changes, learning and achievements.

Before saying goodbye to 2021, how about remembering 5 facts that marked the country this year?

1. Health – Vaccination against COVID-19

One of the most important events of the year took place in January. On the 17th, Brazil began vaccinating the population against COVID-19.

At that point, 210,000 people had already died from the disease and we were already anxious for the vaccines to start being administered.

The first vaccine to be administered was Corona Vac, imported by the Butantã Institute.

The vaccine has rekindled hope in the hearts of thousands of Brazilians and brought us a little comfort amidst so much chaos.

Hope that our lives would return to near normal, little by little, but they would return, and hope that the loss of loved ones would be reduced.

This event certainly could not be left out of our 2021 retrospective.

2. Entertainment – BBB 2021

Regardless of your opinion about the program, we have to agree that this edition did indeed mark the year 2021.

To give you an idea, Juliete, the current winner, was one of the most searched women on Google this year.

Even those who didn't follow this edition, saw memes and publications about it, and even drew conclusions based solely on this information, right?

3. Police Officer – Lazaro Barbosa

Guys, what was that?

Lázaro Barbosa was a serial killer responsible for the brutal death of 4 people from the same family in the Federal District.

However, what shocked the population the most was the work it took to capture him. It took around 20 days of pursuit until the individual was captured and killed.

The case affected the country so much that the criminal even became a meme and gained supporters.

Unfortunately, the coldness of a large part of Brazilians in relation to the case was also frightening, because there were innocent lives and grieving families in this story.

This is another case that marked our year, which is why it was chosen to be part of our 2021 retrospective.

4. Sport – Olympics

The 2020 Summer Olympics took place in the months of June and August. The Olympic Games were like an oasis in the middle of the desert.

This is because, amidst the many difficulties faced by Brazilians, we ended up uniting to support our athletes.

Each achievement made our hearts vibrate and rekindled the flame of hope.

5. World of Music – Marilia Mendonça

On November 5th, Brazil was hit by news that shook the entire nation.

Then the singer died Marilia Mendonca in a plane crash with 4 other people.

Without a doubt, an irreparable loss of a unique and irreplaceable human being. A voice and a talent that will never be equaled.

At the same time, the name Marília Mendonça was the most searched on Google, and it's no wonder. The Queen of Suffering marked a generation and will always be in our memory.
