💡 Why the $395 annual fee pays itself

The logic is simple: the card offers $300 in travel credit every year.

On your card's anniversary, you receive 10,000 bonus miles — worth at least $100 redeemed through the Capital One travel portal.

Adding the two together, you already have $400 in guaranteed value per year — which technically offsets the annual fee of $395 before any other purchase or benefit.

This doesn't even include free lounge access, travel insurance included with the Visa Infinite card, the $120 credit for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck, and the miles earned daily.

For those who travel at least once a year and use the Capital One booking portal, the net cost of this card is essentially zero.

🎯 75,000 miles could be worth much more than $750

Redeemed directly through the travel portal, each mile is worth 1 cent — totaling $750 in travel.

But when transferred to partners like Air Canada Aeroplan or Turkish Airlines Miles & Smiles, experts estimate each mile is worth between 1.5 and 2 cents.

This means that the 75,000 bonus miles could be worth between $1.125 and $1.500 depending on how you redeem them.

🎯 Who is this card ideal for?
Those who travel at least once a year

The $300 travel credit and the 10,000 birthday miles already justify the annual fee. Any additional trips are a pure bonus.

Who frequents airports in the US and abroad?

Free access to over 1,300 lounges transforms waiting at the airport into a completely different experience — with food, drinks, and Wi-Fi at no extra cost.

Who wants a hassle-free travel card?

Earning 2X miles on every purchase means that any spending earns rewards, without needing to manage rotating categories or activate monthly bonuses.

Who wants to get rid of $700+ annual fee cards?

The Venture X delivers comparable benefits to the Chase Sapphire Reserve ($795/year) and the Amex Platinum ($695/year) for $395 — a difference of up to $400 per year.

🔑 How to get the most out of Venture X

Use your $300 travel credit by booking flights, hotels, or car rentals through Capital One Travel within the first few months—this immediately offsets your annual fee.

When booking through the portal, prioritize hotels and car rentals to take advantage of the 10X mileage rate instead of the usual 2X rate for everyday bookings.

Instead of redeeming miles directly through the portal, consider transferring them to partner programs when you want to maximize their value — especially for international business class flights.

Register for Global Entry using the $120 credit included on the card: in addition to speeding up entry into the U.S., Global Entry automatically includes TSA PreCheck, which speeds up security at domestic airports.

Miles never expire as long as your account is active and can be shared with other Capital One account holders — making it easy to combine balances for larger redemptions.

⚠️ Points to note

The Venture X requires excellent credit — typically a FICO score of 720 or higher. It's not an entry-level card: it's geared toward those who already have a solid credit history in the U.S.

Starting in February 2026, Capital One has changed its guest access policy for lounges. Currently, to bring guests to Capital One Lounges or Landing locations free of charge, it is necessary to spend $75,000 on the card per year. For Priority Pass lounges, there is a charge per guest visit regardless of spending.

The card does not have an introductory APR of 0% — it is not designed for financing installment purchases. Those intending to load funds should consider another option, as the APR of 19,49%–28,49% quickly erodes any rewards benefits.

The $300 travel credit only works through the Capital One Travel portal — it does not cover direct purchases with airlines or hotels outside the platform.

75,000 miles to start your next trip.
