These and other questions will be answered throughout the text.
In the following content, you will learn more about this new option and discover if this is a viable option for you to make that extra money and help supplement your income at the end of the month.
What is Mercado Livre?
First of all, how about we learn a little about Mercado Livre?
Contrary to what many people think, the company is not Brazilian, but Argentinean.
Founded in 1999, Mercado Livre began its history as a website focused on online auction negotiations.
After being active for a while, the site grew more and more and expanded its activities.
Through its website and application, you can buy and sell products from a wide range of categories, wherever you want.
This has made the platform the most popular e-commerce service in Latin America and one of the main buying and selling platforms in Brazil as well.
Currently, in addition to purchasing and sales services, the platform also has other exclusive services.
One of them is Mercado Pago, a secure payment system for platform users.
The other is Mercado Envios Extra, the main topic of our content today!
What is Mercado Envios Extras?
With the growth and increasing popularity of its services, Mercado Livre had to invest in new ways to further increase the speed of its deliveries throughout the country.
And it was with this in mind that Mercado Envios Extras was created.
This tool helps connect thousands of independent delivery drivers to the e-commerce platform.
This way, in addition to ensuring that products sold within the marketplace arrive as quickly as possible to their final destinations, Mercado Envios Extras can also guarantee the safety of all parties involved in the delivery process.
Who can be a Mercado Livre delivery person?
Obviously, to work with a company the size of Mercado Livre, it is necessary to meet some basic requirements.
After all, in addition to being a way to guarantee a quality service, these requirements help to ensure the safety of everyone – both delivery people and sellers/buyers – during the delivery process.
Below, you will see some of the requirements that the company has for hiring these freelancers.
Vehicle (car or motorcycle)
To work as a Mercado Livre partner driver, the delivery person must have a vehicle – car or motorcycle – up to 15 years old, which is in good condition and in regularized status with the responsible bodies.
For motorcycle riders, it is worth noting that it is also necessary to have a backpack or trunk of at least 80 liters.
This is the minimum capacity required by the company to make deliveries.
Valid National Driver's License (CNH)
Another mandatory requirement to be a self-employed Mercado Livro delivery person is to have a valid National Driver's License (CNH) that meets all the criteria required by traffic authorities.
National Registry of Legal Entities
As already mentioned in the text, the drivers who are part of this new delivery system work as service providers for the company, without having an employment relationship.
Therefore, to be one of Mercado Livre's self-employed drivers, you must have a National Registry of Legal Entities (CNPJ).
To meet this requirement, registration can be in the MEI (individual microentrepreneur) format.
And it is worth remembering that it is also necessary to have deliveries as a main or secondary activity.
Cell phone with internet
And last but not least, it is essential that the driver has a cell phone with internet access.
After all, this will be the main communication channel between the service provider and Mercado Livre during deliveries.
How to become a Mercado Livre delivery person?
Now that you know the requirements needed to be part of the platform's partner driver team, let's talk more about how to be a Mercado Livre delivery person.
Once the requirements of the previous topic have been met, the driver must download the Mercado Envios Extra application. At the moment, the application is only available for Android.
Then, you must complete the available registration and watch some tutorials that show how the delivery process works.
During the registration steps, it will also be necessary to validate the driver's identity.
The Mercado Envios Extra website has a special area for questions. To access and find out more, just click here.
What is the average earnings of a Mercado Livre delivery person?
A very important issue regarding this delivery service is the amount earned by delivery people.
In this regard, the service is very similar to ride-sharing apps, such as Uber and 99. Each service request is associated with an initial value and the driver can accept as many as he wants.
The partner driver will know what this amount will be before accepting the delivery in question.
If accepted, the driver picks up all the packages at a specific collection point and makes deliveries throughout the city.
The amount that will be received by the driver takes into account the number of successful deliveries made.
In cases where the delivery route is completed in full, the driver receives 100% of the amount indicated at the beginning of the deliveries.
Now, if this delivery route is not completed, the driver receives an amount proportional to the route taken.
According to the website responsible for the delivery service, the partner driver can receive up to R$$ 240 per day.
These payments are made weekly directly into the driver's Mercado Pago account.
