The most dangerous swimming pools in the world

Swimming pools are a great entertainment option for those who want to cool off but don't want to/can't go to the beach, right?

But trust me: it's better to be hot than to face the pools on this list here.

Below, you will learn about some of the most dangerous swimming pools in the world:

Nemo 33, Belgium

Another pool on our list that is both fascinating and dangerous is Nemo 33.

Nemo 33 is located in Belgium – more precisely in Brussels.

With a capacity of up to 2.5 million liters of water, Nemo 33 was built inside a gym and is a frightening 35 meters deep.

With a structure like this, it is clear that the focus of the Nemo 33 is not necessarily the same as that of traditional pools.

It is highly sought after by professional divers. There, they can both train and teach diving techniques to other divers.

Another very common use is for firefighters and police officers. There, they can train their rescue techniques.

Nemo 33 also has several windows so that visitors can observe the dives being carried out.

So, would you dare to take a dip in this 35-meter deep pool?

Queen's Bath, Hawaii

Okay, this one might not necessarily be a conventional pool as we know it.

But, as it is a type of natural pool and is highly dangerous, it had to appear on our list of the most dangerous pools in the world.

The natural pool consists of a hole between rocks. On normal days, water enters through an opening, forming the pool.

But on days when the tide is very strong, the waves can easily overcome the walls and enter the natural pool with more force.

And that's where the danger begins.

Located on the island of Kauai, in Hawaii, several reports have already appeared on the internet of people who were victims of this extremely dangerous natural pool.

It's no wonder that the Queen's Bath has a nickname that scares just hearing it: the pool of death.

Despite the beauty of the place, the death pool can go from a dream to a nightmare in the blink of an eye.

Wave action and tide can easily drag swimmers into places where it is virtually impossible to get out.

The danger of the place is so great that, after several incidents were reported there, local authorities sought to restrict access to the site.

This way, the chances of the death pool claiming more victims are greatly reduced.

Devil's Pool, Africa

Another natural pool that is part of our list is Devil's Pool. The name alone is scary, right?

Located in Victoria Falls, between Zambia and Zimbabwe, Devil's Pool is a natural rock formation.

It gained fame for being right on the edge of the waterfall.

While many consider it one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world, it is also possible to say that the proximity of the pool to the precipice of the waterfall is quite dangerous and requires care.

After all, the pool is right on the edge of the waterfall – a free fall of approximately 100 meters.

Despite the risks, tourist demand has always been high. However, to ensure the safety of visitors, access is only permitted during certain months of the year.

In others, due to the strong flow and increased volume of water, visiting the natural pool is prohibited.

Yulong Pool, China

Pools that produce artificial waves are increasingly common.

It is not difficult to find water parks that have pools equipped with this type of system.

And the Yulong pool, a water park located in Longjing, China, had everything to be just another one of those pools.

But she gained worldwide fame due to an accident that occurred in 2019.

And this event made it onto our list of the most dangerous pools in the world.

In May of that year, around 44 visitors were injured after a failure in the machinery responsible for producing and controlling the pool's artificial waves.

An error in the machine settings intensified the waves to the maximum.

This failure caused a kind of artificial tsunami to occur inside the pool.

Despite almost 50 people being injured, fortunately no one died.

But it was still something that really left a mark on fans of this type of wave pool.

Golden Nugget, United States

Have you ever imagined going down a water slide and passing among different species of fish, sea creatures and even sharks?

If you're brave enough to take on this adventure, the Golden Nugget is the pool for you. This pool – located inside a casino hotel – is located in Las Vegas and attracts thousands of tourists who want to live this unique experience.

There, you can go down a water slide that, along the way, passes through some tanks.

Filled with salt water, these tanks are home to a wide variety of marine species, from fish and rays to even sharks.

And the scariest thing is that the visitor passes right in the middle of these animals before falling into a pool – this one, for humans only.

Would you dare to go down this water slide?
