Do you know which are the most dangerous beaches in the world?

Almost everyone likes to enjoy the beach from time to time to relax, right?

But there are some where you should think twice before visiting. We're talking about the most dangerous beaches in the world!

In this content, we have gathered 7 of the most dangerous beaches in the world for you to discover.

Here you will learn about destinations that, for various reasons, can pose a risk to the lives of their visitors.

The 7 most dangerous beaches in the world

As much as beaches are synonymous with vacations, relaxation and fun, not all coastal destinations offer these experiences.

Even though the vast majority of beaches in the world are great places to enjoy the sand and take a dip every now and then, you need to be careful.

There are several beaches around the world where a simple dip can pose real risks to the lives of bathers.

Below, we have selected the 7 most dangerous beaches in the world!

Fraser Island, Australia

You may have heard about how Australia is a country where the wildlife is, to say the least, exotic.

Far beyond kangaroos and koalas, the animal life that exists in the country can pose serious risks to those who are not so accustomed to this particularity.

And Fraser Island is one of those places.

In addition to the strong currents in the sea off this island, the constant presence of sharks and jellyfish also make this not the best destination for swimmers.

Fraser Island is also home to dingoes, a type of wolf. They travel in packs and can pose a risk to tourists.

Oh, and the island is also known for being home to over 15 species of snakes.

Thinking about it, it's better to find another beach to visit, right?

Gansbaai, South Africa

And speaking of beaches that have a constant incidence of sharks, we have Gansbaai, in South Africa.

Located south of Cape Town, the danger is the beach's proximity to a channel between two islands.

Affectionately nicknamed Shark Alley, this location means that the beach is constantly visited by the feared great white sharks.

But, unlike what happens on Fraser Island, here white sharks have also become real tourist attractions.

Thousands of visitors travel from all over the world to dive – inside cages – with sharks and live this experience.

But to prevent this type of adventure from ending in tragedy, care must be taken.

Look for companies that offer the best equipment for this experience.

Zipolite, Mexico

Our next destination is Zipolite Beach in Mexico!

But before you take that dip, let me explain a little more about this beach.

The name of the beach was given by the indigenous people who lived nearby and, translated into our language, the name Zipolite means “beach of the dead”.

Most likely the origin of this name is due to the size of the giant waves present on the beach.

Furthermore, the very strong sea currents that are frequent on the beach have already drowned dozens of bathers.

So, if you're traveling to Zipolite, the best option might be to enjoy the trip sitting in the area and just getting your feet wet right by the sea, right?

Chowpatty Beach, India

No sharks, no currents and much less the presence of volcanoes.

The origin of the danger on this beach is solely and exclusively human action.

We are talking about Chowpatty Beach in Mumbai, India.

There, because sewage is not properly treated and is dumped directly into the ocean, the waters and the beach are constantly polluted.

This made the beach appear on our list of most dangerous beaches as it is one of the most polluted beaches in the world.

Both the water and the sand have alarming levels of bacteria – such as fecal coliforms – representing extremely high risks for those who dare to visit this place.

Kilauea, Hawaii

If I invited you to spend the weekend on a beautiful beach in Hawaii, you would probably accept, right?

And you can rest assured that there are no great white sharks here… Instead, there is 'only' a constantly active volcano nearby.

The beach is on the route where lava from the Kilauea volcano flows into the ocean.

And as the volcano has been going through active periods since 1983, during times of eruption, the shallowest waters can easily exceed 40°C in the shallowest parts.

Despite this factor and the constant risk of the volcano exploding more aggressively, this Hawaiian beach receives millions of tourists throughout the year.

Bikini Atoll, Marshall Islands

Another beach that had to be on our list is Bikini Atoll.

You know that kind of image that looks like a painting, it's so beautiful? Bikini Atoll is one of those places.

But all the beauty hides a past that is a real danger for anyone who dares to visit this spot.

In the middle of the last century – between the 1940s and 1960s – the United States and its army carried out various types of nuclear weapons tests at the site.

Among these tests was the explosion of one of the largest hydrogen bombs ever made at the time.

This has made practically all of the small islands in this location uninhabitable.

They all have some level of radiation that can be dangerous after long periods of exposure.

Boa Viagem Beach, Brazil

Did you really think Brazil would be left out of this list?

Despite being known for its hundreds of breathtaking beaches, there are some beaches where you need to be cautious when visiting.

And Boa Viagem Beach is one of them.

Despite being beautiful, the beach – which is located in Recife – is constantly visited by tiger sharks.

Since the 1990s, several incidents involving attacks by this species have been recorded on the beach.

The presence of these animals is due to the environmental impact caused by the construction of the Port of Suape.

This ended up affecting the area's ecosystem, increasing the incidence of these animals on the beach.

So, did you like these beaches? Which one would you choose for your vacation?
