A piece of news released this week has been stirring up the population: the BPC payroll loan has been released.

Although it was news that attracted a lot of people's attention, at the same time some doubts began to arise.

And these questions range from what BPC is to how this type of payment works. consigned.

And it was with these questions in mind that we decided to create today’s content.

Here, you will stay up to date with everything about this news and better understand how this type of newly released loan will work.

What is BPC?

BPC is an acronym for Continuous Benefit Payment.

This benefit, which is provided for in the Organic Law of Social Assistance (LOAS) – is aimed especially at people who are truly experiencing a situation of social vulnerability.

This vulnerability – which may be due to your monthly income or some disability – ensures that the beneficiary is able to receive the amount of a minimum wage each month while the BPC is active.

But this type of benefit also has its own particularities. One of them is that, to be entitled to the benefit, it is not necessary to have contributed to the INSS.

This makes the benefit different from retirement, for example, which requires a specific period of contribution in order for the benefit to be accessed.

Another difference is that, unlike other benefits that Brazilian citizens can access, BPC does not pay any type of extra amount, such as the thirteenth salary or survivor's pension, for example.

Who is entitled to BPC?

Now that you know a little more about BPC, it's time to find out more about who is entitled to this benefit.

Currently, for a citizen to be entitled to BPC, it is necessary to:

– Be an elderly person, 65 years of age or older, or be a person with a disability, of any age;

– You must be Brazilian (born or naturalized) or of Portuguese nationality. In this second option, you must prove your residence here in the country;

– The income per person belonging to the family group is equal to or less than ¼ of the minimum wage. In other words, approximately R$$ 300.00 per person, if we use the minimum wage currently in force as a basis;

– It is also mandatory that all members of the applicant's family group are duly registered in the Single Registry before the benefit is requested.

In addition to these items already mentioned here, two other points that deserve our attention are the following:

– In the case of people with disabilities, it is necessary for the citizen to undergo a medical and social assessment carried out by the National Institute of Social Security (INSS).

This is one of the most important steps in applying for the benefit.

– It is also important to highlight that the Continuous Benefit Payment is exclusive to people who do not carry out any type of paid activity.

If this rule is not followed and any of these activities are identified, the benefit may be suspended.

What is a payroll loan?

Even though it has been on the market for a long time, with so many options when it comes to loans, the payroll loan can end up being confused with the other modalities.

The payroll loan is a credit model in which, when the customer takes the requested amount of money from the financial institution, the payment of the installments is automatically debited from their salary payroll.

This type of credit line ends up being a great alternative for those who need money.

Some of the attractions of the payroll loan are the fixed installments and, generally speaking, they are smaller than other options on the market.

But, despite the advantage of being a loan that has lower interest rates than other types, the payroll loan has its restrictions.

This type of credit is exclusive to retirees, INSS pensioners and public servants.

This means that, despite the advantages, the payroll loan is not an option available to most Brazilians.

Now that you know more about what BPC is and how payroll loans work, it’s time to talk a little more about this news.

The measure, which was announced last week and published in the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU), allows beneficiaries of projects such as BPC and Auxílio Brasil to take out payroll loans.

According to the federal government, more than 52 million people – such as INSS retirees and pensioners, for example – will be able to benefit from this news.

And, according to the federal government, the program is estimated to offer approximately 77 billion reais in loans, which should help boost the country's economy.

And the dynamics of the BPC payroll loan will be like the payroll loans we already know.

The citizen can request the loan and, if it is approved, the beneficiary will have the installments related to the loan debited directly from their benefit.

Information regarding the values offered has not yet been revealed.

How to get BPC?

To register with BPC and try to become a beneficiary of the program, there are a few paths that the user can follow.

It is possible to make the request through the Meu INSS app – which is available for cell phones with Android and iOS operating systems.

Other available options are: calling 135 free of charge or going directly to one of the Social Security Agencies (APS) in your city.

And for those who want to ask questions about BPC in person, just look for the Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS) in your city and find out more.

But be careful: regardless of the registration option you choose, you must be registered in the Single Registry. Only after this registration will you be able to make your request.

After your request, you can check the status of your request – whether it has been approved or denied – using the Meu INSS app, on the website, or by calling 135.

In cases where the application is approved, the INSS also sends a letter to the person informing them of the result and at which bank branch they will receive the BPC.
