It's no surprise that we're living in the streaming era, right?

And amid so many options for more traditional streaming platforms that have been around for a longer time – such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, for example – one of HBO Max's main challenges when it was launched was managing to capture users' attention and, therefore, win new subscribers.

And that's what the platform did!

Despite carrying a big name like HBO – since the brand represents one of the most well-known and successful channels in the history of TV – many people turned their noses up at the launch of HBO Max.

But it didn’t take long for the platform to show what it was made of!

Launched here in Brazil in 2021, the platform has already attracted attention for its content.

In addition to original content, the streaming service has brought together successful series that are popular with the public, such as Game of Thrones, Friends, Sex and The City and sagas that have conquered generations, such as Harry Potter and The Hunger Games.

And that's how, even though it arrived 'late' here in Brazil, HBO Max is not far behind when it comes to catalog.

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City

One of the most famous games in the world has gained yet another film adaptation. After the successful franchise with 6 films came to an end in 2016, fans of the Resident Evil universe were eager to know what this adaptation would be like.

Furthermore, unlike the films that were part of the previous franchise – which were not based so much on the video games – this new adaptation became known for being very faithful to the entire story of the original game.

The film follows Claire Redfield as she returns to Raccoon City, the city where she grew up with her brother. But what Claire didn't expect was that the city was on the brink of a zombie apocalypse caused by The Umbrella Corporation, a pharmaceutical company headquartered in the city.

Ghostbusters – Beyond

And speaking of franchise remakes, another film that's on our HBO Max release list is Ghostbusters – Afterlife!

In this film, we follow a single mother who is moving to a new city with her two children. 

As soon as they arrive at their new home, she and her children discover that they have a direct connection to the original Ghostbusters. 

And as if that weren't enough, they also discover that their grandfather – who was one of the Ghostbusters – left a legacy for his family. 

Soon they begin to witness paranormal events, see that this is no joke and seek help from those who really understand the subject: the Ghostbusters!

We have vacancies

Any fans of those horror/thriller movies out there? Because one of HBO Max's June releases is one of those that will take your breath away!

In We're Vacancy – a 2007 film – we are introduced to David and Amy, a couple who are traveling by car. But when the vehicle breaks down in the middle of the road, they are forced to seek shelter in a cheap roadside motel.

Despite the situation, everything seemed to be fine. So much so that they decided to watch a horror movie in their room. But it turns out that they soon recognize the setting of the movie: it is the very room where they are staying.

Upon discovering the presence of hidden cameras, they must escape from that room before they meet the same ending as the couple portrayed in the film they just watched.

Thundercats

Thunder, thunder, thunder… Thundercats, OOOOH! 

Who remembers this classic cartoon phrase?

A true classic among 90s kids, the animated film Thundercats is also one of HBO Max's releases in June! 

Betting on nostalgia, HBO Max chose to add the original episodes of the animation to its catalog and, without a doubt, it will attract a lot of attention from those who followed the cartoon.

In the animation, we follow Lion-O, Cheetara and other members of Thundera, a planet inhabited by people who are half human, half feline.

After having to move from their home planet, Lion-O and his gang will have to fight Mumm-Ra to defend their new home.

The Bridge – The Bridge Brazil

A streaming platform isn't just about movies and series. And HBO Max is no different!

The platform also invests in reality shows, and one of HBO Max's releases in June is A Ponte – The Bridge.

Hosted by actor Murilo Rosa, this survival reality show has its Brazilian version. In it, 14 celebrities will have 20 days to build a 300-meter bridge to an island, where there is a prize of R$500,000.

But beyond the challenge of building this bridge, they will have to develop alliances over time, as there will be a vote on the island to decide where the prize will be awarded.
