And it was with this celebratory event in mind that is so important to our history that we decided to explore this type of launch a little more, which, despite being relatively common, ends up going unnoticed by many people.

Have you ever come across a coin or bill that is different from the ones we are used to? Those coins that, when we see them, we always think about keeping, since they are different and much rarer than the ones we see in everyday life?

These are called commemorative coins. This type of coin usually has a peculiar design, different from other coins.

These are the types of coins that are usually issued by the organization to celebrate a certain historical event.

This type of resource is also widely used to pay tribute to personalities who were relevant to the history of Brazil.

Can you imagine what an honor it would be to receive a special coin with your face on it?

The most recent example of coins that were created to commemorate an event are the coins launched to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Brazil's Independence, on September 7, 1822.

In the next topic we will talk a little more about them!

In the last few days you may have seen some news – whether on TV, on news portals or even on social media – about the launch of coins to celebrate the 200th anniversary of our country's Independence.

With values of R$ 2 and R$ 5, these coins are made of different materials than what we are used to, making them even more unique.

According to information released by the Central Bank, the R$ 2 and R$ 5 coins are made of cupronickel – an alloy of copper and nickel – and silver, respectively.

Below, we have separated images of these coins for you to get to know them:

As already mentioned, the R$ 5 coin is made of silver.

And, on one of the sides, it features a representation of the session of the Council of State.

For those who don't know, it was in one of these sessions that the decision was made to send letters to Dom Pedro advising him to break with the Portuguese Crown.

On the other side, the coin displays its value, a representation of the Brazilian flag and the first verse of the Independence Anthem.

Made of cupronickel, the commemorative coin is also the first in history to feature colored details on one side.

In addition to this special detail, the coin also features the first verse of the Independence Anthem.

Will it be possible to find these Central Bank commemorative coins in circulation?

Now, the question that remains is: will we be able to find these coins in circulation?

Unfortunately, this is unlikely to happen.

Unlike so many other coins already released, these coins are intended exclusively for collectors.

Produced by Casa da Moeda, these coins are sold exclusively through the Clube da Medalha website for those interested in collecting them.

And because they are quite exclusive, the values of each of these coins can be frightening.

While the R$ 2 coin – made of cupronickel – should cost R$ 34 reais, the R$ 5 coin – made of silver – will cost R$ 420.

Would you be brave enough to pay these amounts to acquire any of these coins?
