You know those series that have a timid beginning and debut without making much noise, but as the episodes go by and the story develops, it gains strength and wins over more and more fans?

The Manifest series is exactly that kind of series!

And with the release of the 4th season getting closer, we decided to create special content about the series!

So if you are a fan of the series or even if you still don't know exactly what it is about and want to know more, this material will be a good read!

Meet Manifest, one of the hottest series of the moment

Released on September 24, 2018, Manifest is a series that was shown on NBC, a North American channel.

Covering genres such as suspense, drama, supernatural and mystery, the series – which was created by Jeff Rake – arrived here in Brazil with the name Manifest: The Mystery of Flight 828.

After the success of the first season, in 2019, NBC renewed the series for a second season, and the sophomore season of the series premiered on January 6, 2020.

Even in the midst of the pandemic and with all the difficulties caused by social isolation, the series was renewed again and, on June 15, 2020, the third season was confirmed by NBC.

Manifest's third season premiered on April 1, 2021.

But, despite being a series with a good audience and a wide fan base, these factors were not enough to prevent the series from being canceled.

And on June 14, 2021, NBC announced that the series would end at the end of the 3rd season.

This news ended up saddening fans all over the world, since, according to them, the series had the potential to have new seasons.

But what fans didn't expect was that a streaming platform would rescue Manifest and allow the series to gain new episodes, but we'll talk more about that throughout the text.

What is the real story of Manifest?

Now it's time to talk a little more about the real story of Manifest.

The premise of Manifest is as follows: a group of passengers board Monteiro Air Flight 828.

Despite the turbulence, the flight appears to be successful and, after a few hours, lands successfully at its final destination, to the relief of all passengers and crew.

But when they arrive at their destination, they realize that, despite the flight having lasted only a few hours, time passed differently for the rest of the world.

Here on dry land, those hours turned into 5 years.

And while the passengers and crew of the flight thought they would go on with their lives as normal, they realized that the flight was considered missing and they were declared dead.

Now that they have returned to their lives, they must deal with the changes that this passage of time has brought – including grieving their loved ones after their 'deaths' and how each of them has moved on since.

And at the same time, two of the passengers – Michaela and Ben Stone – begin an investigation on their own to try to understand what could have caused this whole situation.

And it doesn't take long for them to realize that their case is much more complex and full of unknowns than they imagined.

Is the story of Manifest inspired by any event?

As there are several works that are inspired by some case or situation, this hypothesis is always raised in works that are successful, be it films, series or books.

And with Manifest it would be no different.

Even though some hardcore fans believe that the story is, in some way, based/inspired by some experience that the author of the series went through, the supernatural elements of the series make it seem like it is nothing more than a work of fiction.

However, it is possible to say that most likely the premise of the series is slightly inspired by cases

known to the media for flight disappearances, such as Malaysia Airlines Flight 370.

This flight became known worldwide after taking off from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, bound for Beijing, China, on March 8, 2014 and ending up disappearing with 239 people on board, including passengers and crew.

And despite more than 30 pieces of the aircraft – a Boeing 777 – having been found in six different countries, the disappearance of the flight remains shrouded in mystery.

This is because, despite all these findings, none of the bodies of the 239 people present on the flight were recovered, even after the searches carried out.

Among the search resources used, airplanes, boats, divers, satellite images, mapping of sea currents and so on were used.

All this lack of information was enough to create conspiracy theories about what happened.

And the theories range from the disappearance having government involvement to even theories about abduction cases and parallel dimensions.

But regardless of which hypothesis is correct, each passing year takes us further away from solving this intriguing case.

Where to watch Manifest?

Remember when we mentioned that the series was canceled after the 3rd season, but ended up being rescued by a streaming platform?

The person responsible for this rescue was the all-powerful Netflix!

In August 2021, Manifest was rescued by Netflix and the 4th and final season is expected to arrive on the platform – divided into two parts – in 2022.

But it is also possible to watch the three seasons of the series on Globo Play.

Conclusion

So, have you heard about Manifest and the plot of the series?

It's a great choice for those who like stories that involve some kind of mystery, investigations and supernatural events.

So if you enjoy any of these styles, I think Manifest is worth giving a try!
