Discover the story of The Boys
Have you ever imagined living in a world where superheroes really exist? It would be a dream come true for our society, right?
We suggest you watch The Boys before answering this question!
In the plot, we follow a world where heroes exist and have celebrity status – doing commercials, participating in programs and everything else.
But not everything is perfect. The Seven – the world's best-known group of heroes – is managed by Voight, a company with very dark secrets.
And just like the company, The Seven are far from perfect and, away from the public and the screens, the behavior of some of these heroes borders on sadism.
And that's where The Boys come in, a group that seeks to find ways to expose the truth to the world and show the true face of these heroes. But it won't be easy.
Among the main figures of the group are the leader Billy Butcher and Hughie Campbell, a young man who decides to join the group after losing his girlfriend during an accident caused by one of the Seven's heroes.
The origin in comics
This is an interesting topic both for those who are not yet familiar with the series and for those who have seen it but have not delved too deeply into the origins of the series.
In case you didn't know, the series The Boys is inspired by an American comic book series.
The comics were created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. They led the project – which Garth Ennis wrote – from start to finish.
The series had 72 issues released and was published between 2006 and 2012.
The story of the comics is very similar to what we know in the series.
Here, the protagonist is also Hughie, who, after losing his girlfriend during a conflict between heroes and villains, begins to hate all people who have some kind of superpower.
And it is at this time that Billy Butcher appears in Hughie's life, inviting him to be part of The Boys.
Who created the series The Boys?
As you already know, the central theme of this content is the adaptation of The Boys for the small screen.
And now that we've covered the true origins of The Boys, it's time to talk more about who created the series that won millions of fans and has become a true landmark in pop culture.
The person largely responsible for bringing the project to life and transforming – together with the comic book creators, of course – the comics into the series was Eric Kripke.
Kripke is a famous American screenwriter, director and TV producer who, together with a team of executive producers – including actor Seth Rogen – developed the series exclusively for Prime Video.
In addition to The Boys, Kripke also has the series Supernatural on his resume, one of the biggest hits on American TV and which recently ended after 15 seasons.
In other words: he has a lot of experience! And so far he has shown what he's capable of as a developer on The Boys.
After all, if you haven't had any kind of contact with the comics and the series yet, it's important to point out that the plot doesn't skimp on points like sex, violence, social criticism and acid humor.
And it was precisely this essence of the comics that the creators wanted to convey to the series.
But how can this be made possible, since in a TV series everything becomes more graphic. And at the same time, it becomes more difficult to execute certain scenes?
Despite all the difficulties in faithfully adapting – and still doing well – the scenes from the comics, Kripke accepted the challenge and, so far, the project has been a critical and public success.
When does the next season of The Boys premiere?
Anyone who is a fan of a series knows how the end of the season works, right?
As soon as the final episode ends, we rush to the internet to research the news regarding the series' renewal. And, if it has already been renewed, we want to know how the filming is going and if there is an estimated premiere date.
Kripke himself said that he is already working on the scripts for the next season.
And if everything goes well, filming for the fourth season of the series should begin at the end of August.
As for the season premiere, it is estimated that it will arrive on Prime Video in 2023, between the months of July and September.
And for fans of the series, 2023 promises to be a year of strong emotions.
This is because, by all indications, next year – probably before the 4th season – Gen V should also premiere.
Gen V is a spin-off of The Boys, which follows heroes during college, a phase in which they begin to better control their powers.
In other words: 2023 promises to be incredible for fans of the series!
