Today, Trechos da Vida has a great movie recommendation for you to enjoy! Find out where to watch Snow White and the Huntsman!
As everyone knows, the wave of live-actions – versions of well-known animations with real actors and actresses – has been quite successful in cinema for some time now.
And most of these adaptations use animated works from one of the biggest companies in the world: Disney!
In recent years, the company has invested heavily in this type of adaptation, creating live-action versions of several of the studio's classic animations.
And among the most recent, we have hits such as: Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, Mulan, Maleficent, Dumbo, Lady and the Tramp and The Jungle Book.
But before all this live-action craze that took over cinemas, there were already films that followed the same idea. And it's one of them that we're going to talk about here today!
In this content, you will learn more about Snow White and the Huntsman, an adaptation – a little different – of the classic Disney fairy tale that was released in the early 2010s and was a huge success in theaters.
And in addition to learning more about the film, you will also discover where to watch Snow White and the Huntsman to enjoy a movie this weekend!
Learn more about Snow White and the Huntsman
The weekend is coming! And for those who are staying at home, we have prepared a movie recommendation that will please all audiences.
We're talking about the film Snow White and the Huntsman! But we can already tell you that the film is a little different from the cartoon.
In Snow White and the Huntsman, we meet a widowed king who falls in love with Ravenna (Charlize Theron) without knowing how dangerous she is. The king ends up dying shortly after the wedding, leaving Ravenna in charge of the kingdom.
Taking charge of everything, Ravenna soon locks Snow White (Kristen Stewart), the king's daughter, in a dungeon.
Meanwhile, Ravenna – who is completely obsessed with youth and beauty – continues to consult her oracle to find out if she is the most beautiful woman in existence. And she ends up discovering that Snow White is a threat to her title.
After the young woman manages to escape, Ravenna hires Eric (Chris Hemsworth), an experienced hunter, to bring her back.
But before capturing her and delivering the young girl to the Queen, Eric realizes he is making a big mistake and decides to help Snow White defeat the Queen.
And even though this mission is not easy at all, they will receive help from seven dwarves who work in a mine and from the magical beings who live in the forest.
The performance of the film
With a star-studded cast, the film – which hit Brazilian cinemas on June 1, 2012 – was a real success!
With a budget of around US$170 million, the film grossed US$396.6 million. In other words: it more than doubled the initial investment.
And a large part of the film's great performance was the mix of genres such as fantasy, action, adventure and even a pinch of drama.
Another point of the film that deserves to be highlighted is that, even though it is an adaptation of the classic Disney animation released in 1937, the director and those responsible for the script of the film still managed to give a touch of originality to the project that pleased the public a lot, making the film a success!

Do you remember that we mentioned here in the text about the success that The Huntsman and the Ice Queen had in theaters?
This success was so great that it motivated those responsible for the project to work on a second film. And on April 28, 2016, the film The Huntsman: Winter's War hit theaters.
Despite being classified as a sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman, the film's story takes place years before the events of the first film.
In it, we follow Queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron) as she rules another kingdom alongside Freya (Emily Blunt), her kind sister.
After experiencing a traumatic event, Freya discovers magical powers and decides to isolate herself, building her own kingdom. This makes her known as The Ice Queen.
In this kingdom, she recruits young hunters for her army, but under one condition: they must give up any form of love.
But Erik (Chris Hemsworth) and Sarah (Jessica Chastain), two of Freya's most talented recruits, end up falling in love.
And this causes the queen's fury, triggering a series of events.
With a smaller budget than the previous one – US$115 million – the film ended up not having the same success as the first film, grossing around US$165 million.
But it's still a great option for anyone who wants to have a movie session at home and watch.
